Do small businesses need a website?

Imagine receiving a flier from a business with a product to sell. The product sparks your interest and you see a company name and an address clearly marked on the flier. What is the first thing you do before purchasing anything from this company? Check to make sure the company is established as legitimate by going to your favorite search engine and searching for the company. If the company doesn't have a site or if the company's site looks like a high school kid made it in his parent’s basement, chances are you’re not going to buy anything from them. No matter what type of business you own, people will use the Internet to help verify your business.

While having a clean professional-looking site is very important, having a working and easy-to-use site is equally critical. Once a prospective customer reaches your site, they need to easily navigate it without encountering broken links, missing information or having to wade through too much product or service information. As you know, those experiences lead to lost sales.

So, to answer the question proposed in the title of this post, yes, every business needs a website. But since all websites are not created equally, yours needs to get noticed and break boundaries!
